A 25 kg coco peat bale is a large, compressed block of natural coconut husk pith - the high-volume format for growers, potting-mix producers and landscapers who use coir by the cubic metre. One bale hydrates to 190-210 litres of clean, sustainable growing medium and soil conditioner.

The most economical way to buy coir.
A 25 kg bale is the same washed, screened coir pith as our 5 kg blocks, pressed into a single large block for bulk use. It is used primarily as a sustainable, high-volume growing medium and soil conditioner in horticulture, agriculture and landscaping, where it replaces peat moss litre for litre with none of the environmental cost.
Hydrated, one bale yields 190-210 litres of free-draining, water-retentive medium with a naturally low EC after washing, a stable pH and no weed seeds or soil-borne pathogens. Low-EC washed and high-EC grades are both available.
Bales are packed in LDPE bags, stack cleanly on pallets or loose-load into containers, and break up easily on a mixing line or with a fork once hydrated. For very large operations we also press jumbo bales of 3,500-4,000 litres.

Jumbo bales
For potting-mix manufacturers, large nurseries and landscape contractors who move coir by the pallet rather than the bag, we press jumbo bales that hydrate to 3,500-4,000 litres each - roughly twenty times a standard bale, and a full pallet in a single unit.
Jumbo bales are pressed from finely screened pith (under 6 mm) and packed in heavy 450-gauge milk-white LDPE bags. They are supplied in both low-EC and high-EC grades: low EC for growing media, high EC where the material will be used for soil improvement or further washing on site.

Jumbo bales are not recommended for 20 ft containers: the void space left by ten pallets compromises load stability in transit.

Bales are packed in LDPE bags, then either stacked on export pallets and stretch-wrapped with corner protectors, or loose-loaded to maximise container volume.
Loading
Shipped as full 40 ft high-cube containers. Sample bales and trial pallets are available for potting-mix producers and large growers.

Bagged and stacked for the container
Bales are packed in LDPE bags and stacked in the despatch shed ready for loading. Stacked this way a 40 ft high-cube container takes 650 bales loose-loaded, or 560 on pallets.

Hydration guide
Place the bale in a mixing bay, trough or on a tarpaulin and add 80-100 litres of clean, low-EC water. Allow 30-60 minutes for the bale to expand, then break it up with a fork or mixer and fluff before use. Check the EC of the hydrated medium before planting and adjust your first feed accordingly.
