Coco Peat Animal Bedding
Dust-extracted coir pith bedding for horses, poultry, small animals and reptiles. It absorbs several times its own weight in moisture, binds ammonia to keep odour down, stays soft and stable underfoot, and composts after use.

Coir pith bedding works because of the same properties that make it a good growing medium: a huge internal surface that wicks and holds liquid, and a naturally low dust level once it has been screened. Urine is absorbed downwards and held, the top layer stays dry, and the ammonia that causes odour and respiratory irritation is bound within the material.
Compared with shavings or straw, a coir bed needs less frequent full changes - soiled patches are lifted and topped up - and the used bedding breaks down quickly into a fine compost that landowners and growers will take. A compressed 5 kg block expands to around 70 litres, so a season's bedding takes a fraction of the storage space.
We supply bedding grades of pure pith for horses and small animals, and pith-chip blends that hold humidity for reptiles and tropical species.

Coverage
How much do you need?
For a 3.6 x 3.6 m (12 x 12 ft) stable bedded 10-12 cm deep, allow about 7 bales of 25 kg or 24 blocks of 5 kg for the initial bed. Hydrate the compressed coir with clean water, fork it through to the required depth and leave it to settle before use. Top up with one block or a quarter bale per week for a stabled horse, removing droppings and wet patches daily.
For poultry houses, spread a 5-8 cm layer and stir weekly; for small animals and reptiles, use a 3-5 cm layer and replace as required.

Blocks and briquettes palletised and stretch-wrapped; 25 kg bales strapped and wrapped. Printed retail bags and private-label packs available.
